Thomas Henry Smeed was the eleventh child of Edward Smeed & Sarah Ann Hayward born August 12th, 1875 at Fairlight Farm, East Grinstead & christened October 17th, 1875 at St Swithun’s Church, East Grinstead.
Thomas & his family were living at Fairlight Farm in 1881 where his father was a farmer.
In 1891 Thomas was helping his father who was farming at Fairlight Farm.
Thomas married Florence Jane Neaves on September 26th, 1914 at St Stephen’s, Islington. Florence was born September 25th, 1890 at Islington, London, the daughter of Annie & Robert Neaves, a brushmaker. At this time Thomas was a clerk.
The 1939 register shows Thomas & Florence living at 28 Burnside Rd, Dagenham, Essex. Thomas was a clerk with the inland revenue. Living with them was 19 year old son Edward R L Smeed, a GPO porter.
There is a death for Thomas H Smeed in April-June 1960 registered in Romford, Essex.
